Professor Munira Kadhim
Professor Kadhim is an internationally established expert in the field of radiation biology who has published extensively in this field. Munira is currently leading the research on cellular/tissue effects of damaging agents at Oxford Brookes University, UK. Prior to moving to Oxford Brookes University, Munira held positions at Swansea University, UK; Weatherall Institute of Molecular Medicine, University of Oxford and Medical Research Council, UK, where she led the ‘Genomic Instability Group. Munira is a pioneer on Non Targeted Effects and Bystander Effects of radiation and her team was the first to publish on the radiation induced extracellular vesicles (EV). Since then the EV-specific radiation biology has undergone a massive expansion with other groups working on all aspects of EV biology subsequent to Non Targeted Effects of radiation. Munira is a member of several national and International committees and scientific societies including: Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment ‘COMARE’, ‘COMARE CT and DXA Sub-committee ( Department of Health UK )’, ‘UK Association for Radiation Research’, The Clinical and Translational Radiotherapy Research Working Group (CTRad), The European Radiation Research Society (ERR); Radiation Research Society, USA’ and ‘Mutagenesis Society’.

Dr Dave Carter
Prof Dave Carter is a Professor in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Oxford Brookes University (OBU). Dave is a cancer biologist and renowned scientist in the field of extracellular vesicles and non-coding RNAs. He is currently conducting research programs on cargo and delivery of extracellular vesicles and the role of miRNAs and extracellular vesicles in regulating drug resistance in cancer response and intercellular stress. Before joining OBU, Dave spent a year in Cambridge working on the human genome project at the Sanger Institute. This was followed by his PhD, in Cambridge, where he developed a novel assay, ‘RNA-tagging and recovery of associated proteins’, to demonstrate a physical interaction between a locus control region and the β-globin gene. Later he investigated the structure of transcription factors at at Oxford University, before establishing his own lab in 2007. Dave is the current president of the UK Society for Extracellular Vesicle.
